El Senyor em va comunicar la seva paraula. Em digué:

— Fill d’home, escolta’m! La llenya del cep, ¿és millor que l’altra llenya dels arbres del bosc?

Per ventura en treuen fusta per poder-la treballar? ¿O en fan estaques per penjar-hi els atuells?
4
La llancen per alimentar el foc, perquè en consumeixi les dues puntes i en recremi la resta. Com pot ser bona per a treballar-la?

Si quan era sencera no es podia treballar, quan el foc l’ha consumida i recremada, què se’n podrà fer?

»Per tant, això us fa saber el Senyor Déu: Llançaré els habitants de Jerusalem tal com llançaria al foc, perquè la consumís, la llenya del cep, abans que l’altra llenya del bosc.
7
M’encararé amb ells: han sortit del foc, però el foc els consumirà. Llavors, quan m’encararé amb ells, sabreu que jo sóc el Senyor.
8
Del país, en faré una desolació per les seves infidelitats. Ho dic jo, el Senyor Déu.
