Galatians 3:23
Czech SNC
What Does This Mean?
This verse says that before Jesus came and we could have faith in him, people were governed by the law. The law was like a guard keeping everyone until the time when faith in Jesus would come.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're waiting to open a present on your birthday. Before opening it, you wait and follow all the rules, but once it's time, you get to enjoy the gift inside! In this case, the gift is faith in Jesus.
Historical Background
Paul wrote Galatians around AD 49-53 to churches in Galatia who were being pressured to adhere strictly to Jewish law. He explains that faith in Christ fulfills and supersedes the law.
Living It Out Today
Today, instead of feeling trapped by rules, believers can live freely under grace. For example, a person might feel guilty for not following every religious regulation but can find peace knowing their faith is what truly matters.
