Das Wort, welches der Prophet Jeremia zu Baruch, dem Sohne Nerijas, sprach, als er im vierten Jahre Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, diese Reden, so wie sie ihm Jeremia vorsagte, in ein Buch aufschrieb, also lautend:

So spricht Jahwe, der Gott Israels, über dich, Baruch: Du sprachst:

"O weh' mir, denn Jahwe fügt noch Kummer zu meinem Schmerze! Ich bin matt vom Seufzen und finde keine Ruhe!"

Sprich also zu ihm: So spricht Jahwe: Fürwahr, was ich aufgebaut habe, reiße ich nieder, und was ich eingepflanzt habe, reiße ich aus,

und da verlangst du für dich so Großes? Verlange das nicht! Denn ich bringe nunmehr Unheil über alles Fleisch, ist der Spruch Jahwes; dir aber will ich dein Leben zur Beute geben an allen Orten, wohin du dich begeben wirst.
