2 Chronicles 16:9 — English Berean Standard Bible (BSB) 2025
For the eyes of the Lord roam to and fro over all the earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are fully devoted to Him. You have acted foolishly in this matter. From now on, therefore, you will be at war.”
What Does This Mean?
This verse says that God's eyes are always watching over the Earth, looking out for those who are faithful to Him. God tells someone they have acted foolishly and will face wars as a result of their actions.
Explained for Children
Imagine God is like a parent watching over a playground. He sees everything and helps the kids who play nicely and follow the rules. But if a kid does something silly, like not sharing toys, the parent might let the other kids have a turn instead.

This verse is from 2 Chronicles, a book written by the priestly author or scribe, likely in the 4th century BCE. It was written for the Jewish people returning from exile in Babylon, to remind them of God's faithfulness and the consequences of disobedience.
Living It Out Today
