Matthew 18:10 — English CSB 2017 - Christian Standard Bible
“See to it that you don’t despise one of these little ones, because I tell you that in heaven their angels continually view the face of my Father in heaven.
What Does This Mean?
Jesus warns his disciples not to look down on anyone who seems small or unimportant because each person, especially children and the vulnerable, has a special guardian angel in heaven who is always with God.
Explained for Children
Imagine if every child had a super-protective friend watching over them from way up high in the sky. Jesus says we shouldn't ignore any little kid because their special friend is always right next to God!
Historical Background
Matthew wrote this verse, part of his Gospel, probably between AD 80-90 for a predominantly Jewish-Christian audience. It reflects a culture that valued community and respect for all members.
Living It Out Today
In a workplace setting, remember not to overlook or disrespect any team member just because they might seem junior; each person has value and their contributions matter greatly.
