1The Song of Songs which is for Solomon.

2Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine.

3Your delightful anointing oils are fragrant. Your name is as oil poured out; therefore the young women love you.

4Draw me after you, and we will run away. The king has brought me into his chamber. Let us shout with joy and rejoice in you; let us remember that your love is better than wine. Truly do the young women love you.

5I am dark, but lovely, O daughters of Jerusalem, like the tents of Kedar, even the tent curtains of Salmah.

6Do not stare at me because I am dark, because the sun has looked upon me with its heat. My mother’s sons were angry with me. They made me the keeper of the vineyards, but my own vineyard I have not kept.

7Declare to me, you whom my soul loves, where do you pasture? Where do you lie down at noon with your flock? And why should I be like one covered up beside the flocks of your companions?

8If you do not know, O most beautiful among women, follow the tracks of the flock, and pasture your young goats beside the shepherds’ tents.

9Like my mare among the chariot horses of Pharaoh, I liken you.

10Lovely are your cheeks with their hanging pendants; even your neck with its string of beads.

11We will fashion pendants of gold for you with beads of silver.

12While the king was reclined my nard gave forth its fragrance.

13My lover is a sachet of myrrh, resting all night between my breasts.

14My lover is a cluster of henna flowers in the vineyards of Engedi.

15Behold, how beautiful you are, my beloved! Behold, how beautiful you are! Your eyes are doves.

16Behold, how handsome you are, my lover, and so delightful! Our couch is verdant with leaves.

17The strong beams of our house are cedar, and our arching rafters are fir trees.
