1
And(Then) he entered into a ship: and passed over and came into his own city.
2
And lo, they brought unto him a man sick of the palsy, lying in his bed. And when Jesus saw their faith,(the faith of them) he said to the sick of the palsy: son be of good cheer, thy sins be forgiven thee.
3
And lo(behold) certain of the scribes said in themselves, he(this man) blasphemeth.
4
And when Jesus saw their thoughts, he said: Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
5
Whether is easier to say, thy sins be forgiven thee, or to say: arise and walk?
6
That ye may know, that the son of man hath power to forgive sins in earth, then said he unto the sick of the palsy: arise, take up thy bed, and go home to thine house.
7
And he arose and departed to his (own) house.
8
The people that saw it,(And when the people saw it, they) marveled and glorified God, which had given such power to men.
9
And as Jesus passed forth from thence he saw a man sit at the receipt(a receiving) of custom named Matthew, and said to him: Follow me. And he arose and followed him.
10
And it came to pass, that Jesus(as he) sat at meat in his(the) house. And lo,(behold) many publicans and sinners, came and sat down also with Jesus, and his disciples.
11
When the pharisees had perceived(saw) that, they said unto his disciples: why eateth your master with publicans and sinners?
12
When Jesus heard that, he said unto them: The whole need not the physician, but they that are sick.
13
Go and learn, what that meaneth: I have pleasure in mercy, and not in offering. For I am not come to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance.
14
Then came the disciples of John to him, saying: why do we and the pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?
15
And Jesus said unto them: can the wedding children mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The time will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.
16
No man pieceth an old garment with a piece of new cloth. For then taketh he away the piece again from the garment, and the rent is made worse.(greater.)
17
Neither do men put new wine, into old vessels: for then the vessels break, and the wine runneth out, and the vessels perish. But they pour new wine into new vessels, and so are both saved together.
18
While he thus spake unto them, lo,(behold) there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him saying: my daughter is dead already,(even now deceased) but come, and lay thy hand on her, and she shall live.
19
And Jesus arose and followed him, with his disciples.
20
And behold, a woman which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve year, came behind him and touched the hem of his vesture.
21
For she said in herself: If I may touch but even his vesture only I shall be safe.
22
(Then) Jesus turned him about, and beheld her, saying: Daughter be of good comfort, thy faith hath made thee safe. And she was made whole even that same hour.
23
And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people wondering,(raging)
24
he said unto them: Get you hence, for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.
25
As soon as the people were put forth adoors, he went in and took her by the hand, (and said: damsel, arise) and the maid arose.
26
And this was noised throughout all that land.
27
And as Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him crying, and saying: O thou son of David, have mercy on us.
28
And when he was come into the house,(home) the blind came to him. And Jesus said unto them believe ye that I am able to do this? (And) They said unto him: yea Master.(yea Lord.)
29
Then touched he their eyes saying: according to your faith, be it unto you.
30
And their eyes were opened. And he(Iesu) charged them, saying: See that no man know of it.
31
But they as soon as they were departed, spread abroad his name through out all the land.
32
As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed of a devil.
33
And as soon as the devil was cast out, the dumb spake. And the people marveled, saying: it(was) never so appeared(seen) in Israel.
34
But the pharisees said: He casteth out devils, by the power of the chief devil.
35
And Jesus went about all cities and towns, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel(glad tidings) of the kingdom. And healing all manner sickness and disease among the people.
36
But when he saw the people, he had pity(compassion) on them, because they were pined away, and scattered abroad even as sheep, having no shepherd.
37
Then said he to his disciples: the harvest is great, but the laborers are few.
38
Wherefore pray the harvest Lord,(Lord of the harvest) to send forth laborers into his harvest.
