La palabra de Jehovah que vino al profeta Jeremías acerca de los filisteos, antes que el faraón destruyese Gaza.

Así ha dicho Jehovah: "He aquí, avanzan aguas del norte, se convierten en torrente e inundan la tierra y su plenitud, la ciudad y sus habitantes. Entonces los hombres gritan, y gime todo habitante de la tierra,

por el estruendo del galope de los cascos de sus corceles, por el retumbo de sus carros y por el chirrido de sus ruedas. Por la debilidad de sus manos, los padres no se vuelven a mirar a sus hijos,

a causa del día que viene para destruir a todos los filisteos; para exterminar a Tiro, a Sidón y a todo aliado que haya quedado con vida. Porque Jehovah destruirá a los filisteos, a los sobrevivientes de la isla de Caftor.

Sobre Gaza ha venido rapadura de cabeza; Ascalón ha sido silenciada. Oh sobrevivientes de los gigantes, ¿hasta cuándo os sajaréis?

Oh espada de Jehovah, ¿hasta cuándo no te aquietarás? Vuélvete a tu vaina, reposa y sosiégate.
7
¿Cómo se aquietará? Pues Jehovah le ha dado órdenes para ir a Ascalón y a la costa del mar; la ha designado para ir allí."
