Grita incansable, bien fuerte, deja oír tu voz como trompeta, denuncia a mi pueblo sus delitos, a la casa de Jacob sus descarríos.

Día a día consultan mi oráculo, desean conocer mis intenciones, como gente que practica la justicia, que no abandona el mandato de su Dios. Me piden que haga justicia, desean la cercanía de Dios:

“¿Para qué ayunamos si no nos miras, nos mortificamos y no te das cuenta?”. Porque el día de ayuno buscáis vuestro interés y sois implacables con vuestros sirvientes.

Ayunáis, sí, pero entre pleitos y disputas, repartiendo puñetazos sin piedad. No ayunéis como hacéis ahora, si queréis que se oiga en el cielo vuestra voz.

¿Creéis que es este el ayuno que deseo cuando uno decide mortificarse: que mueva su cabeza como un junco, que se acueste sobre saco y ceniza? ¿A esto llamáis ayuno, día agradable al Señor?

Este es el ayuno que deseo: abrir las prisiones injustas, romper las correas del cepo, dejar libres a los oprimidos, destrozar todos los cepos;
7
compartir tu alimento con el hambriento, acoger en tu casa a los vagabundos, vestir al que veas desnudo, y no cerrarte a tus semejantes.
8
Entonces brillará tu luz como la aurora, tus heridas se cerrarán en seguida, tus buenas acciones te precederán, te seguirá la gloria del Señor.
9
Entonces llamarás al Señor y responderá, pedirás socorro y dirá: “Aquí estoy”. Si apartas los cepos de en medio de ti, si no delatas acusando en falso;
10
si partes tu comida con el hambriento y sacias el hambre del indigente, entonces brillará tu luz en la tiniebla, tu oscuridad será igual que el mediodía.
11
El Señor será siempre tu guía, saciará tu hambre en el desierto, hará vigoroso tu cuerpo, serás como un huerto regado, como un manantial de aguas cuyo cauce nunca se seca.
12
Volverás a levantar viejas ruinas, cimientos desolados por generaciones; te llamarán reparador de brechas, repoblador de lugares ruinosos.
13
Si te abstienes de comerciar en sábado, de negociar en mi día santo; si llamas al sábado tu delicia y lo consagras a honrar al Señor; si lo honras sin pensar en tus asuntos, sin buscar tu interés y tus negocios,
14
entonces te deleitarás en el Señor, te llevaré a las alturas de la tierra, te haré gustar la herencia de tu padre Jacob. Ha hablado la boca del Señor.
