Así dice YHVH: He aquí, aguas que se alzan del norte, Ya son un torrente inundador, Que inunda la tierra y su plenitud, Las ciudades y los que en ellas habitan: Claman los hombres, Se lamenta todo morador de la tierra.

Por el galopar de sus caballos, Por el alboroto de sus carros, Por el estruendo de sus ruedas, Los padres, ya sin fuerzas, Ni siquiera miran por sus hijos.

Porque el día asolador le llega a Filistea, Y en Tiro y en Sidón se ha cortado hasta el último de sus defensas. YHVH destruye a los filisteos y al resto de la costa de Caftor;

Gaza está rapada, Ascalón, reducida al silencio. ¡Ay!, remanente de gigantes: ¿Hasta cuándo os sajaréis?

¡Ay, espada de YHVH! ¿Hasta cuándo no descansarás? ¡Vuélvete a la vaina, descansa y estate quieta!

¿Cómo podrá estarse quieta, Cuando YHVH la ha mandado, Cuando la ha destinado contra Ascalón y la costa del mar?
