Mi espíritu está quebrantado, mis días extinguidos, el sepulcro está preparado para mí.

No hay sino escarnecedores conmigo, y mis ojos miran su provocación.

Coloca, pues, contigo una fianza para mí; ¿quién hay que sea mi fiador?

Porque has escondido su corazón del entendimiento, por tanto no los exaltarás.

Al que denuncie a sus amigos por una parte del botín, a sus hijos se les debilitarán los ojos.

Porque El me ha hecho proverbio del pueblo, y soy uno a quien los hombres escupen.

Mis ojos se oscurecen también por el sufrimiento, y mis miembros todos son como una sombra.
8
Los rectos se quedarán pasmados de esto, y el inocente se indignará contra el impío.
9
Sin embargo el justo se mantendrá en su camino, y el de manos limpias más y más se fortalecerá.
10
Pero volveos todos vosotros, y venid ahora, pues no hallo entre vosotros a ningún sabio.
11
Mis días han pasado, se deshicieron mis planes, los deseos de mi corazón.
12
Algunos convierten la noche en día, diciendo: "La luz está cerca", en presencia de las tinieblas.
13
Si espero que el Seol sea mi casa, hago mi lecho en las tinieblas;
14
si digo al hoyo: "Mi padre eres tú", y al gusano: "Mi madre y mi hermana",
15
¿dónde está, pues, mi esperanza?, y mi esperanza ¿quién la verá?
16
¿Descenderá conmigo al Seol? ¿Nos hundiremos juntos en el polvo?
