Luego me vino este mensaje del Señor:

«Hombre mortal, ¿de qué sirven las viñas del bosque? ¿Tienen tanta utilidad como los árboles? ¿Llegan a tener siquiera el valor de una sola rama?

¡No, pues la madera de las viñas ni siquiera puede ser empleada para hacer estacas para colgar ollas y cacerolas o ganchos para colgar ropa!

Sólo sirve para hacer leña, y aún así arde en forma muy pobre.

Así, pues, ¡es inútil tanto antes como después de ser echada al fuego!

»Esto es lo que yo les quiero decir con esta ilustración, dice Dios el Señor: Los habitantes de Jerusalén son como las viñas del bosque, ¡inútiles antes de ser quemados e inútiles después!

Y yo me pondré contra ellos para asegurar que si escapan de un fuego, caigan en otro; y entonces sabrán que yo soy el Señor.

Y yo desolaré su tierra como castigo por su idolatría, dice el Señor Dios».
