Elihú siguió diciendo:

«Job, tú crees tener razón, y ante Dios dices ser inocente;

hasta te atreves a reprocharle: “¿De qué me sirvió no haber hecho nada malo?”

»Escucha bien lo que voy a decirte a ti y a los que son como tú.
5
Mira las nubes y el cielo; mira lo alto que están.
6
A Dios no le afecta en nada que te pases la vida pecando.
7
Y aun suponiendo que no peques, Dios no se beneficia en nada.
8
¡El daño o el beneficio de que peques o no peques es para los que viven contigo!
9
»Hay tanta maldad en el mundo que la gente pide ayuda; pide ser librada de los poderosos.
10
¡Pero nadie pregunta por Dios, que por las noches nos da fuerzas! ¡Nadie pregunta por el Creador,
11
que nos hace más sabios que las aves y las bestias salvajes!
12
¡Son tan malvados y orgullosos que por eso Dios no les responde!
13
¡Por eso el Dios todopoderoso no atiende sus tontos ruegos!
14
¿Cómo, entonces, esperas que Dios responda a tu insistencia de ir a juicio con él?
15
Según tú, Dios no se enoja ni castiga ni se da cuenta de tanta maldad;
16
pero lo cierto, Job, es que dices puras tonterías».
