Mais pour qui ces discours? De qui t'inspires-tu pour parler de la sorte?

Plus bas que l'océan et que ceux qui le peuplent, au pays des ombres, on se met à trembler,

car le monde des morts est à nu devant Dieu, aucun voile ne cache l'abîme à ses yeux.

C'est Dieu qui étend le nord du ciel sur le vide et qui suspend la terre au-dessus du néant.

Il enferme la pluie au-dedans des nuages et empêche ceux-ci de crever sous le poids.

Il voile le visage de la pleine lune en tirant devant elle un rideau de nuages.

Il a tracé un cercle autour de l'océan, là où la lumière met un terme à la nuit.

Aux menaces de Dieu, le ciel, sur ses piliers, est pris de tremblements et reste stupéfait.

La puissance de Dieu a vaincu l'océan et son intelligence le monstre Rahab.

Comme un vent, son haleine a balayé le ciel, sa main a transpercé le serpent tortueux.

Si ce n'est là qu'un petit bout de ses actions – et nous n'en percevons qu'un très léger écho – qui comprendra le tonnerre de ses hauts faits?
