L'année où le général en chef envoyé par Sargon, roi d'Assur, vint à Ashdod pour l'attaquer et s'en emparer,

en ce temps-là, Yahvé parla par le ministère d'Isaïe fils d'Amoç; il dit: "Va, dénoue le sac que tu as sur les reins, et ôte les sandales de tes pieds." Et il fit ainsi, allant nu et déchaussé.

Et Yahvé dit: "De même que mon serviteur Isaïe a marché nu et déchaussé pendant trois ans, pour être un signe et un présage contre l'Egypte et contre Kush,

de même le roi d'Assur emmènera les captifs d'Egypte et les déportés de Kush, les jeunes et les vieux, nus, déchaussés et fesses découvertes, à la honte de l'Egypte.

Ils seront pris d'épouvante et de honte à cause de Kush leur espérance et de l'Egypte leur fierté.

Et l'habitant de ce rivage dira en ce jour-là: "Voici ce qu'est devenue notre espérance, ceux vers qui nous avons fui pour chercher un secours, pour échapper au roi d'Assur. Et nous, comment nous sauverons-nous?"
