Philippians 2:2
Hebrew Bible Modern 1977
What Does This Mean?
This verse is from Paul's letter to the Philippians. He asks them to fulfill his joy by being likeminded and having the same love, showing unity and agreement in their thoughts and actions.
Explained for Children
Imagine a group of friends playing together with the same toys without fighting over who gets to play with which toy. That's what Paul is asking the people in Philippi to do - be like good friends who care about each other and work well as one team.
Historical Background
The letter was written by the Apostle Paul from prison around AD 61-63. It was addressed to the church at Philippi, a Roman colony in Macedonia where Christianity had been introduced by Paul during his second missionary journey.
Living It Out Today
In modern times, this verse can be applied to a workplace team striving for harmony and shared goals. For example, colleagues can work better together when they put aside personal differences and aim to have the same mindset towards their projects and tasks.
