Questo è il libro della discendenza di Adamo. Nel giorno che Dio creò l’uomo, lo fece a somiglianza di Dio;

li creò maschio e femmina, li benedisse e diede loro il nome di “uomo”, nel giorno che furono creati.

Adamo visse centotrent’anni, generò un figlio, a sua somiglianza, conforme alla sua immagine, e lo chiamò Set;
4
e il tempo che Adamo visse, dopo avere generato Set, fu ottocento anni, e generò figli e figlie;
5
e tutto il tempo che Adamo visse fu novecentotrent’anni; poi morì.
6
E Set visse centocinque anni, e generò Enos.
7
E Set, dopo aver generato Enos, visse ottocentosette anni, e generò figli e figlie;
8
e tutto il tempo che Set visse fu novecentododici anni; poi morì.
9
Ed Enos visse novant’anni, e generò Chenan.
10
Ed Enos, dopo aver generato Chenan, visse ottocentoquindici anni, e generò figli e figlie;
11
e tutto il tempo che Enos visse fu novecentocinque anni; poi morì.

E Chenan visse settant’anni, e generò Maalaleèl.
13
E Chenan, dopo aver generato Maalaleèl, visse ottocentoquarant’anni, e generò figli e figlie;
14
e tutto il tempo che Chenan visse fu novecentodieci anni; poi morì.

E Maalaleèl visse sessantacinque anni, e generò Iared.
16
E Maalaleèl, dopo aver generato Iared, visse ottocentotrent’anni, e generò figli e figlie;
17
e tutto il tempo che Maalaleèl visse fu ottocentonovantacinque anni; poi morì.

E Iared visse centosessantadue anni, e generò Enoc.
19
E Iared, dopo aver generato Enoc, visse ottocento anni, e generò figli e figlie;
20
e tutto il tempo che Iared visse fu novecentosessantadue anni; poi morì.
21
Ed Enoc visse sessantacinque anni, e generò Metusela.
22
Ed Enoc, dopo aver generato Metusela, camminò con Dio trecento anni, e generò figli e figlie;
23
e tutto il tempo che Enoc visse fu trecentosessantacinque anni.
24
Ed Enoc camminò con Dio; poi scomparve, perché Dio lo prese.
25
E Metusela visse centottantasette anni e generò Lamec.
26
E Metusela, dopo aver generato Lamec, visse settecentottantadue anni, e generò figli e figlie;
27
e tutto il tempo che Metusela visse fu novecentosessantanove anni; poi morì.
28
E Lamec visse centottantadue anni, e generò un figlio;
29
e lo chiamò Noè, dicendo: “Questo ci consolerà della nostra opera e della fatica delle nostre mani causata dal suolo che l’Eterno ha maledetto”.
30
Lamec, dopo aver generato Noè, visse cinquecentonovantacinque anni, e generò figli e figlie;
31
e tutto il tempo che Lamec visse fu settecentosettantasette anni; poi morì.
32
E Noè, all’età di cinquecento anni, generò Sem, Cam e Iafet.
