Jotham aveva venticinque anni quando iniziò a regnare, e regnò sedici anni a Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Jerushah, figlia di Tsadok.

Egli fece ciò che è giusto agli occhi dell’Eterno, in tutto come aveva fatto suo padre Uzziah, (tuttavia non entrò nel tempio dell’Eterno), ma il popolo continuava a corrompersi.

Egli costruí la porta superiore della casa dell’Eterno e fece molti lavori sulle mura di Ofel.

Inoltre costruí delle città nella regione montuosa di Giuda e nelle foreste costruí fortezze e torri.

Fece pure guerra al re dei figli di Ammon e li vinse. I figli di Ammon gli diedero quell’anno cento talenti d’argento, diecimila cori di grano e diecimila d’orzo. La stessa quantità gli fu consegnata dai figli di Ammon il secondo e il terzo anno.

Cosí Jotham divenne potente, perché regolò il suo cammino davanti all’Eterno, il suo DIO.

Il resto delle gesta di Jotham, tutte le sue guerre e le sue imprese, ecco, sono scritte nel libro dei re d’Israele e di Giuda.

Egli aveva venticinque anni quando iniziò a regnare, e regnò sedici anni a Gerusalemme.

Poi Jotham si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nella città di Davide. Al suo posto regnò suo figlio Achaz.
