それから、このようなことばが主から与えられました。

「人の子よ。森の中のぶどうの木に、どれだけの価値があるか。ほかの木のように役に立つだろうか。その枝の一本ほどの価値があるだろうか。

いや、ぶどうの木は、食器を掛ける木くぎにさえできない。

役に立つことといえば、たきぎにするぐらいだが、それも、燃えがよくない。

だから、たきぎにして燃やす前も、燃やしたあとも、大して役に立たない。」これは次のようなことを意味していると、主は語ります。「エルサレムの住民は森のぶどうの木のようなものだ。火に投げ入れられる前も、投げ入れられたあとも、まるきり役に立たない。

わたしは敵のように、彼らの前に立ちはだかり、彼らが一度は火から逃れても、次には必ず火に追い込む。その時、あなたがたは、わたしが主であることを知る。
8
彼らが偶像礼拝をやめないので、わたしはこの地を荒れはてさせる。」神である主は、そう語るのです。
