ああ神よ、なぜいつまでも私たちをお見捨てになるのですか。なぜ、あなたを信じて従う私たちに、こんなにも激しい怒りを向けられるのですか。

その昔、奴隷の身であった私たちを救い出し、かけがえのない宝のように大切になさったことを、思い出してください。自ら地上の住まいとお定めになったエルサレムを、思い起こしてください。

どうか、敵の手で、見るも無残な廃墟と化した都を、あなたの聖所を、ごらんください。

そこで、敵は勝ちどきをあげ、勝利の碑を建てたのです。

あらゆるものが荒廃し、木を切り倒したあとの森のようです。彼らはハンマーや斧で、聖所の彫り物を打ち砕き、切り刻み、

こともあろうに、あなたの聖所に火を放ちました。彼らは、「さあ、神の名残をとどめるものを一掃しろ」と叫びながら、国中を駆け巡り、礼拝するための集会場を焼き払いました。

神は、はるか昔から私の王であられました。私がどこにいても、いつもあなたのほうから、救いの手を差し伸べてくださいました。

あなたは紅海を二つに分け、海神の頭を打ち砕き、荒野に住む人々のえじきとされました。

あなたが命じると泉がわき出て、イスラエル人はその水を飲みました。常に水の流れるヨルダン川をせき止め、そこを乾いた道となさいました。

昼も夜も、すべてはあなたの支配下にあります。あなたは星と太陽をお造りになったお方です。

自然界を治め、夏と冬の区別を設けられました。

主よ、敵があなたをあざけっていることに 目を留めてください。ああ神よ。思い上がった民が、主の名を冒瀆しているのです。

主よ、お救いください。あなたの山鳩を、獰猛な鷹からお守りください。あなたが愛しておられる民を、獣からお救いください。
20
約束を思い出してください。この地は暗闇に閉ざされ、残忍な者たちが幅をきかせています。
21
主よ、あなたの民が踏みにじられ、いつまでもさげすまれることが ないようにしてください。貧しい者たちが、あなたの御名を ほめたたえることができるようにしてください。
22
ああ神よ、立ち上がって、敵に申し渡してください。反逆者が一日中あびせかけてくる 侮辱のことばを聞いてください。
23
敵ののろいのことばを、聞き逃さないでください。彼らの声は、ますます大きくなっているのです。
