This verse says that the most arrogant people will stumble and fall, and no one will help them get back up. God will also start a fire in their cities that will destroy everything around them. God is speaking here, warning the proud people of Babylon.

Imagine you're the biggest kid on the playground, and you're so full of yourself that you trip and fall. No one helps you up because no one likes a show-off. Then, imagine a fire breaks out and burns everything around you. That's what God is saying will happen to the proud people of Babylon.

Jeremiah, a prophet, wrote this during the Babylonian invasion of Jerusalem. He was speaking to the Babylonians who were arrogant and thought they could not be defeated. The message was meant to warn them of their impending downfall and destruction.

In modern life, this verse can apply to someone who is so full of themselves that they don't listen to advice or consider others. When they inevitably make a big mistake, they might find themselves without support, just like the arrogant Babylonians.
