Tanī gadā, kad Asīrijas ķēniņš Sargons sūtīja Tartanu uz Ašdodu, ko viņš aplenca un ieņēma,

tanī laikā Tas Kungs runāja caur Jesaju, Amoca dēlu, sacīdams: "Ej, novelc maisu no saviem gurniem un kurpes no savām kājām!" Viņš paklausīja un staigāja bez virsdrēbēm un basām kājām.

Tad Tas Kungs sacīja: "Kā Mans kalps Jesaja staigāja trīs gadus bez virsdrēbēm un basām kājām Ēģiptei un Etiopijai par zīmi un brīdinājumu,

tā Asīrijas ķēniņš aizvedīs sagūstītos ēģiptiešus un cietumam lemtos etiopiešus, jaunus un vecus, bez virsdrēbēm un basām kājām, ar atsegtu sēžamvietu, par apsmieklu Ēģiptei."

Tad ļaudis Jūdā uztrauksies un būs stipri apmulsuši etiopiešu dēļ, uz kuriem tie lika savas cerības, un ēģiptiešu dēļ, ar kuriem tie lepojās.

Tad piejūras iedzīvotāji sacīs tanī dienā: "Redzi, tāda ir mūsu cerība, uz ko mēs paļāvāmies, lai rastu palīgu pret Asīrijas ķēniņu! Kā mēs lai glābjamies?"
