Norwegian 2018 (Bibelen - Guds Ord Hverdagsbibelen (Hermon Forlag))
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from Daniel 9:6, the speaker admits that they and their ancestors did not listen to God's prophets who warned them about their actions. This shows a recognition of past mistakes in following God’s guidance.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a really good friend who always gives you great advice but sometimes you don't follow it. In this verse, Daniel is saying that people didn’t listen to the wise advice given by God's messengers, just like not listening to your best friend.
Historical Background
This passage comes from the Book of Daniel, written around the 6th century BCE during the Babylonian exile. It was addressed to Israelites in exile who were reflecting on their history and relationship with God.
Living It Out Today
Today, we might consider times when we ignore valuable advice from loved ones or spiritual guides. Like a friend telling you not to eat too much candy, ignoring good advice can lead to negative consequences.
