Amalek kom og ville sloss mot Israels folk på en plass som het Refidim. Moses sa til Josva: «Du skal velge deg noen menn og dra for å kjempe mot Amalek! Så skal jeg i morgen stille meg på toppen av høyden med Guds stav i hånden.» Josva gjorde som Moses sa, og han kjempet mot Amalek. Moses, Aron og Hur gikk opp på toppen av høyden.
