Israels folk dro fra Kadesj og kom til fjellet Hor. Det lå på grensen til landet Edom. Moses tok klærne av Aron og ba sønnen Elasar om å ta dem på seg. Aron døde der på toppen av fjellet. Moses kom ned fra fjellet sammen med Elasar, og da folket så at Aron var død, sørget de i 30 dager.
