Jeremiah 14:22
Ndebele Bible - 2010
What Does This Mean?
This verse asks if the false gods of other nations can cause rain or bring showers. It then affirms that only the Lord, our God, can do these things. Therefore, we should wait on Him because He created everything. Jeremiah is speaking here.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing with toys that can't do anything. Then you see a toy that can actually make rain. But the real question is, can any toy make rain? No, only God can do that. So, we should wait for Him because He can do amazing things.
Historical Background
Jeremiah wrote this during a time when Judah faced severe drought and famine. The people had turned to false gods, but Jeremiah reminds them that only God can provide rain and should be trusted.
Living It Out Today
In a modern scenario, when facing a drought, instead of turning to superstitions or false gods, a community should seek God's intervention and trust in His power to provide for their needs.
