Jeremiah 2:22
Ndebele Bible - 2010
What Does This Mean?
This verse says that even if you try to clean yourself very well, your wrongdoings are still known to God. God is speaking here and is emphasizing that our sins are visible to Him, no matter how hard we try to hide them.
Explained for Children
Imagine you spill chocolate all over your shirt. You can wash it over and over, but if you look closely, you might still see a stain. Similarly, God sees our mistakes, even if we try really hard to hide them.
Historical Background
Jeremiah wrote this verse in the 6th century BC during a time when Judah was turning away from God. The audience was the people of Judah, and the cultural context was one where God's covenant and moral law were being ignored.
Living It Out Today
Imagine someone who constantly lies but thinks they can cover it up. This verse reminds us that God sees our true actions, so it's better to be honest and seek forgiveness.
