Luke 2:4
Ndebele Bible - 2010
What Does This Mean?
This verse tells us that Joseph traveled from Nazareth to Bethlehem because he was a descendant of King David and needed to go there for a census. No one is speaking directly in this verse, but it gives important details about the journey before Jesus' birth.
Explained for Children
Imagine if your family had to move temporarily to visit an old house where your great-great-grandparents used to live because of some rules from far away. That's kind of what Joseph did, heading to Bethlehem because he was part of a big royal family tree!
Historical Background
The Gospel of Luke was written by the Apostle Luke, who was not one of Jesus' original disciples but wrote down the stories told by early Christians. This book was likely written around AD 60-75 for Gentile converts to Christianity to understand Jesus' life and teachings within a historical context.
Living It Out Today
Today, we might need to travel far from home for work or family reasons, much like Joseph did. This verse shows us that following God's plan can sometimes mean making big moves, even when it’s not easy.
