O deus Bel curva-se e Nebo é abatido. As suas imagens são postas sobre animais e bestas de carga, e as estátuas que levais deixam os animais esgotados.

Os deuses curvam-se e abatem-se, incapazes de salvar os que os carregam. Até eles próprios vão para o cativeiro.

Ouvi-me, casa de Jacob, e vós todos, sobreviventes da casa de Israel, vós a quem Eu trouxe ao colo desde o vosso nascimento, desde que a vossa mãe vos deu à luz.

Até à vossa velhice Eu serei o mesmo, sustentar-vos-ei até virem as cãs. Como já fiz, continuarei a fazê-lo. Cuidarei de vós e hei-de livrar-vos.

A quem podereis comparar-me ou igualar-me? Quem poderá assemelhar-se a mim ou comparar-se comigo?

Levam-no às costas e transportam-no. Onde o colocam, ali fica sem se mexer do lugar. Por mais que lhe gritem, não responde, não os salva do perigo.

Lembrai-vos disto e meditai, reflecti, ó prevaricadores.

Recordai os tempos passados que Eu predisse. Eu sou Deus e não há outro. Não há nenhum deus semelhante a mim.

Eu anuncio o futuro de antemão. Muito antes que suceda, já o prevejo. Digo: «O meu plano realizar-se-á; executarei a minha vontade.»

Chamo o abutre do Oriente, e do país longínquo o homem dos meus desígnios. Disse-o e cumpri-lo-ei. O que planeei será executado.

Escutai-me vós os desanimados, que julgais estar longe da justiça.

Não demorará a justiça que prometi. A libertação que predisse não tardará. Porei em Sião a salvação. A minha glória será para Israel.
