“Ó Baruque, o Senhor Deus de Israel diz:

Disseste: ‘Ai de mim! Não tenho eu já bastantes tristezas? E agora o Senhor ainda me acrescenta mais! Já estou cansado do meu próprio gemido e não acho descanso!’

Portanto, diz assim a Baruque: O Senhor tem isto a dizer-te: Destruirei esta nação que eu próprio construí. Derrubarei o que eu próprio estabeleci.

Estarás tu a procurar grandes coisas para ti mesmo? Não faças isso! Porque, ainda que venha a trazer grandes males sobre todo este povo, proteger-te-ei por onde quer que vás. Será esta a tua recompensa.”
