Cuvântul lui Iahve a venit la mine și mi-a zis:

„Fiul omului, care este diferența dintre lemnul de viță și orice altă ramură a vreunui copac din pădure?

Se folosește lemn de viță pentru realizarea vreunei lucrări (de construcție)? Se face din el măcar un cui de lemn de care să se atârne tot felul de vase?
4
Nu, ci el este aruncat în foc să ardă. Iar după ce focul îi arde cele două capete și îi consumă mijlocul, mai poate fi el bun pentru vreo lucrare?

Deci dacă nici atunci când era întreg nu s-a putut face nimic din el, cu atât mai puțin util va fi acum după ce l-a ars focul și l-a consumat!”

Din această cauză, Iahve, Cel care este Stăpân, vorbește astfel: „Cum disting lemnul de viță de lemnul oricărui (alt) copac din pădure ca să îl pun pe foc să fie ars, la fel voi proceda și cu locuitorii Ierusalimului.

Îmi voi orienta fața împotriva lor. Au scăpat din foc; dar tot focul îi va consuma! Când Îmi voi orienta privirea împotriva lor, veți ști că Eu sunt Iahve!
8
Voi transforma țara într-un deșert – pentru că nu Mi-au fost loiali. Acesta a fost mesajul lui Iahve, al Celui care este Stăpân.”
