Cuvântul Domnului a fost către mine:

„Fiul omului, cu ce este lemnul viței-de-vie mai presus decât orice copac cu ramuri care sunt printre copacii pădurii?

Este luat din el lemn ca să se facă vreo lucrare? Sau iau din el vreun par ca să atârne de el vreun obiect?

Iată, este dat focului ca să-l mistuie! Focul devorează amândouă capetele, iar mijlocul lui arde; deci folosește oare la vreo lucrare?

Iată, când era întreg, nu se putea face nicio lucrare, cu atât mai mult când este devorat de foc și ars, se mai poate face vreo lucrare?”.

De aceea, așa spune Domnul Dumnezeu: „Așa cum lemnul de viță-de-vie, printre copacii pădurii, este dat la foc și devorat, tot așa îi voi da pe locuitorii Ierusalímului.

Îmi voi întoarce fața împotriva lor; ei vor vrea să iasă din foc, dar focul îi va devora. Și veți cunoaște că eu sunt Domnul când îmi voi întoarce fața împotriva lor.
8
Voi da țara devastării, pentru că au comis sacrilegiu”. Oracolul Domnului Dumnezeu.
