V roku, keď do Ašdódu prišiel tartan, ktorého ta poslal asýrsky kráľ Sargon, bojoval proti Ašdódu a zmocnil sa ho.

V tom čase prehovoril Hospodin prostredníctvom Izaiáša, Amócovho syna, takto: „Choď, vyzleč si vrecovinu z bedier, vyzuj si obuv z nôh!“ On tak urobil a chodil nahý a bosý.

Vtedy Hospodin povedal: „Ako môj služobník Izaiáš chodil nahý a bosý tri roky na znamenie a ako predzvesť pre Egypt a Kúš,

tak nahých a bosých s odhaleným zadkom odvedie asýrsky kráľ egyptských zajatcov a kúšskych presídlencov, mladíkov i starcov na hanbu Egypta.

Vydesia sa a budú sa hanbiť za Kúš, svoju nádej, a za Egypt, svoju ozdobu.
6
Obyvatelia pobrežia v ten deň povedia: ‚Tak sa to skončilo s našou nádejou, ku ktorej sme sa utiekali o pomoc, aby sme boli oslobodení od asýrskeho kráľa. Akože by sme my sami unikli?‘“
