V roku, keď prišiel do Ašdódu tartán, ktorého poslal asýrsky kráľ Sargon - a bojoval proti Ašdódu, aj ho dobyl -

v tom čase hovoril Hospodin prostredníctvom Izaiáša, syna Ámócovho: Choď, zobleč si vrecovinu z bedier a vyzuj si obuv z nôh!

Vtedy riekol Hospodin: Ako môj služobník Izaiáš chodil tri roky nahý a bosý na znak a znamenie pre Egypt a Kúš,

tak poženie asýrsky kráľ zajatcov Egypta a odvlečených z Kúšu, chlapcov i starcov, nahých a bosých, s holým zadkom, na hanbu Egypta.

Potom sa zdesia a zahanbia pre Kúš, svoju nádej, a pre Egypt, svoju ozdobu.

A ten deň povedia obyvatelia tohto pobrežia: Hľa, tak sa vodí našej nádeji, ku ktorej sme sa utiekali o pomoc, aby nás oslobodila od asýrskeho kráľa. Ako unikneme my sami?
