耶和华这样说： “我离弃了你们的母亲，休书在哪里呢？ 或者我的债主中，哪一个是我把你们卖了给他的呢？ 看哪！你们被卖是因你们的罪孽； 你们的母亲被离弃是因你们的过犯。
2
为甚么我来的时候，没有人在呢？ 为甚么我呼唤的时候，没有人答应呢？ 难道我的手太软弱不能救赎吗？ 或是我没有能力拯救吗？ 看哪！我以斥责使海干涸， 我使江河变成旷野， 江河的鱼因无水发臭， 因干渴而死。

我使诸天以黑暗为衣服， 以麻布作它们的遮盖。”
4
主耶和华赐给了我一个受教者的舌头， 使我知道怎样用言语扶助疲乏的人； 主每天清晨唤醒我，他每天清晨唤醒我的耳朵， 使我能像受教者一样静听。
5
主耶和华开启了我的耳朵， 我并没有违抗， 也没有后退。
6
我把我的背给打我的人打， 把我的腮颊给拔我胡须的人拔； 我并没有掩面躲避人的羞辱和人的唾液。
7
但主耶和华必帮助我， 所以我必不羞愧， 因此我板着脸好象坚硬的燧石， 我也知道我必不会蒙羞。
8
那称我为义的，与我相近； 谁与我争讼呢？ 让我们一同站起来吧！ 谁是指控我的？ 让他就近我来。
9
看哪！主耶和华帮助我， 谁能定我有罪呢？ 看哪！他们都要像衣服渐渐破旧， 蛀虫必把他们吃光。
10
你们中间谁是敬畏耶和华， 听从他仆人的声音的？ 谁是行在黑暗中，没有亮光的呢？ 他该倚靠耶和华的名，依赖他的 神。
11
看哪！你们点火的， 用火把围绕自己的， 都行在你们火焰的光里， 都走在你们所燃点的火把中吧！ 这是你们从我手里所要得的： 你们必躺卧在痛苦之中。
