What Does This Mean?
In this verse, God is speaking and compares the actions of the prophet Isaiah to a sign for Egypt and Ethiopia. Isaiah walked naked and barefoot for three years as a warning about what would happen to these countries.
Explained for Children
Imagine if your friend didn't wear clothes for a really long time to show something important. That's what God's helper, Isaiah, did. He did it to show that Egypt and Ethiopia might have big problems coming their way.
Historical Background
This verse is from the Book of Isaiah, written by the prophet Isaiah around 700 BC. It was written for the people of Israel, who were living in a time of political tension with Egypt and Ethiopia.
Living It Out Today
Today, we can think about how our actions can be a sign to others. For example, if you see a friend struggling, your willingness to help can be a sign of hope and love.
