1-4 V roce, kdy nejvyšší velitel na rozkaz asyrského krále Sargóna zaútočil na Ašdód a dobyl jej, oznámil Hospodin Amósovu synu Izajášovi: Svlékni si žíněnou sukni a zuj si boty. Jakmile ho Izajáš uposlechl a začal chodit nahý a bosý, Hospodin řekl: Na znamení a pro výstrahu Egyptu a zemi Kúš bude můj služebník Izajáš chodit nahý a bosý, protože právě tak odvede asyrský král zajaté Egypťany a Kúšijce nahé a bosé od vyhnanství. Odhalí nahotu starců i mladíků a zostudí tak celý Egypt.

Hanba a strach však zachvátí také ty, kdo se spoléhali na pomoc Kúšijců a chlubili se mocí Egypta.

Když Pelištejci uvidí, co postihlo Egypt, s hrůzou zvolají: "Jestliže asyrský král přemohl ty, v jejichž pomoc a ochranu jsme doufali, jak bychom se mohli zachránit my?
