En el año en que el Tartán llegó a Asdod enviado por Sargón, rey de Asiria, atacó a Asdod y la conquistó.

En aquel tiempo YHVH habló por medio de Isaías ben Amoz, diciendo: Ve, despójate del cilicio de sobre tus lomos y quita el calzado de tus pies. Y lo hizo así, y andaba desnudo y descalzo.

Después dijo YHVH: Así como mi siervo Isaías anduvo desnudo y descalzo tres años como señal y presagio contra Egipto y Etiopía,

así conducirá el rey de Asiria a los cautivos de Egipto y a los desterrados de Etiopía, jóvenes y viejos, desnudos y descalzos, con las nalgas al aire, para vergüenza de los egipcios.

Aquel día los moradores de esta costa se asustarán y avergonzarán por la suerte de Etiopía, su esperanza, y de Egipto, su esplendor, y dirán:

¡Mirad a los que eran nuestra esperanza, a donde acudíamos en busca de auxilio para que nos librara del rey de Asiria! Y ahora, ¿cómo escaparemos?
