"Uomo, alzati, voglio parlarti".

Intanto lo spirito di Dio mi afferrò e mi fece alzare in piedi. Io ascoltavo quel che mi diceva:

"Uomo, io ti mando dagli Israeliti. Si sono sempre ribellati e rivoltati contro di me: ieri i loro antenati, oggi essi stessi

Io, il Signore, il Dio d' Israele, ti mando da questa gente testarda e ostinata. Riferisci loro le mie parole.

Ti ascoltino o no, quei ribelli almeno sapranno che c' è un profeta in mezzo a loro.

"Ma tu, Ezechiele, non temerli, non aver paura di quel che diranno per contraddirti; sarà per te come trovarsi tra le spine dei rovi, come sedersi sugli scorpioni. Non farti spaventare dalle parole e dalle facce di quei ribelli.

Tu riferirai loro quel che io dico, ascoltino o no. Ricordati che sono ribelli.

"Ezechiele, ascolta quel che ti dico e non ribellarti anche tu. Apri la bocca e mangia quel che ti do".

Allora vidi una mano tesa verso di me che teneva una pergamena arrotolata.

L' aprì davanti a me e vidi che su tutti e due i lati erano scritti lamenti gemiti e pianti.
