Tajā gadā, kad karaspēka pavēlnieks, ko bija sūtījis Asīrijas ķēniņš Sargons, nāca uz Ašdodu, uzbruka Ašdodai un ieņēma to,

tolaik Kungs runāja ar Jesajas, Āmoca dēla, muti: “Ej, noraisi maisu no gurniem un novelc sandales no kājām!” Un viņš tā darīja – staigāja pliks un bass.

Un Kungs sacīja: “Kā mans kalps Jesaja pliks un bass staigāja trīs gadus par zīmi un brīdinājumu Ēģiptei un Kūšai,

tāpat Asīrijas ķēniņš aizvedīs Ēģiptes gūstekņus un Kūšas trimdiniekus – jaunus un vecus, plikus un basus, plikām pakaļām – Ēģiptei par kaunu!

Tad tie tiks satriekti, tad paliks kaunā to cerības uz Kūšu un dižošanās ar Ēģipti!

Tajā dienā piekrastes iemītnieki teiks: re, kā nu tam, uz kuru cerējām, pie kura pēc palīga bēgām no Asīrijas ķēniņa! Kā lai mēs glābjamies?!”
