Da kom profeten Sjemaja til Rehabeam og til Judas ledere. De var samlet i Jerusalem for å komme bort fra Sjisjak. Han hadde dette budskapet fra Herren til dem: «Dere har forlatt Meg, og derfor har Jeg også overgitt dere i Sjisjaks hånd.» Da ble Israels ledere og kongen ydmyke.
