În anul când a venit Tartan în Asdod, când l‐a trimis Sargon, împăratul Asiriei, și s‐a luptat împotriva Asdodului și l‐a luat,

în vremea aceea Domnul a vorbit prin Isaia, fiul lui Amoț, zicând: Du‐te, și desleagă‐ți sacul de la coapse și scoate‐ți încălțămintea din picior. Și el a făcut așa, umblând gol și desculț.

Și Domnul a zis: Cum a umblat robul meu Isaia gol și desculț, trei ani, drept semn și minune cu privire la Egipt și cu privire la Etiopia;
4
așa va duce împăratul Asiriei pe prinșii Egiptului și pe surghiuniții Etiopiei, tineri și bătrâni, goi și desculți, și cu șezutul gol spre rușinea Egiptului.
5
Și se vor înspăimânta și se vor rușina de Etiopia, încrederea lor, și de Egipt, slava lor.
6
Și locuitorii acestui țărm vor zice în ziua aceea: Iată, așa este încrederea noastră la care am fugit după ajutor ca să fim izbăviți de împăratul Asiriei; și noi, cum vom scăpa?
