Cuvântul pe care l‐a vorbit Ieremia prorocul lui Baruc, fiul lui Neriia, când a scris cuvintele acestea în carte din gura lui Ieremia, în anul al patrulea al lui Ioiachim, fiul lui Iosia, împăratul lui Iuda, zicând:

Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeul lui Israel despre tine, Baruc:

Tu ai zis: Vai de mine! Căci Domnul a adăugat întristare la durerea mea; am ostenit de suspinarea mea și nu aflu odihnă.
4
Așa să‐i zici: Așa zice Domnul: Iată, ce am zidit voi surpa și ce am sădit voi smulge, adică toată țara aceasta.
5
Și cauți tu oare pentru tine lucruri mari? Nu le căuta! Căci, iată, voi aduce rău peste toată carnea, zice Domnul, dar ție îți voi da viața ta ca pradă, în toate locurile unde vei merge.
