Iov (i-) a răspuns:

„Și astăzi este amară plângerea mea! Deși eu gem cu mare intensitate, mâna Lui mă apasă cu greutate.

O, cât de satisfăcut aș fi dacă aș ști unde să Îl găsesc. Atunci m-aș putea apropia de locuința Lui!

Mi-aș prezenta cauza înaintea Lui și mi-aș umple gura cu dovezi.
5
Aș constata ce mi-ar răspunde și aș înțelege ce mi-ar spune.

Mi se va opune oare cu marea Sa forță? Nu (cred)! El va asculta când Îi voi vorbi.
7
Un om corect își poate aduce cauza înaintea Lui! Și astfel voi scăpa pentru totdeauna de Judecătorul meu!
8
Dacă m-aș duce spre Est, El nu este acolo,; iar dacă aș merge spre Vest, nu Îl voi găsi.
9
Când El lucrează în Nord, nu pot să Îl văd; iar când se întoarce spre Sud, nu Îl pot observa.
10
Dar El știe pe ce drum merg. Când mă va încerca, voi fi (curat) ca aurul.
11
Piciorul meu a urmat cu mare atenție pașii Săi; și am urmărit să mă mențin pe drumul Său, fără să deviez de la el.
12
Nu m-am îndepărtat de ce a stabilit El prin porunca buzelor Lui. Am adunat cuvintele gurii Sale.
13
Dar El rămâne Același. Cine I se poate opune (cu succes)? El face tot ce Îi dorește sufletul.
14
Dumnezeu va face tot ce a decis pentru mine; și va mai face multe alte lucruri.
15
Datorită acestui fapt, eu sunt speriat înaintea Lui. Sunt afectat de panică atunci când mă gândesc la toate aceste lucruri.
16
Dumnezeu mi-a făcut inima să aibă frică. Cel Omnipotent m-a speriat.
17
Totuși, nu sunt distrus de întuneric – de acel întuneric dens care îmi acoperă fața!
