Luke 12:56
Romani (E Nevi Viasta o Psalmo 2004 (Maximoff - Kalderaš)) Kalderaš/Căldărari
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, Jesus is speaking to some people he calls hypocrites because they can tell what the weather will be like by looking at the sky and earth but cannot recognize the important things happening around them in their time. He's pointing out how we often miss bigger signs or messages.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're really good at knowing if it’s going to rain just by looking outside, but you can't tell when your parents are having a serious talk about something important. Jesus is saying that's like being able to see the small things but missing the big ones.
Historical Background
This verse comes from Luke's Gospel, written around A.D. 80-100 by Luke, who was a doctor and historian. It was addressed to his Gentile audience and reflects Jesus' teachings in a Jewish context where he often criticized those who missed the deeper spiritual meaning of events.
Living It Out Today
Today, this verse can remind us not to get caught up in daily minutiae while missing out on significant opportunities or truths around us. For example, someone might focus so much on their smartphone that they miss meaningful interactions with others.
