那時 希西家 患病、 亞麼斯 的兒子先知 以賽亞 來見他、對他說、主說你須留遺命與你家、因為你必要死、不能活了。
2
希西家 就轉臉朝牆禱告王、說、
3
主阿、求你記念我常在你面前行動誠實、一心無二行你所喜悅的事、 希西家 就大哭。
4
主曉諭 以賽亞 說、
5
你去告訴 希西家 說、你祖 大衛 的天主耶和華如此說、我聽見你的禱告、看見你的眼淚、我必加增你的壽數十五年、
6
並且救你和這城脫離 亞述 王的手、保護這城。
7
主必應驗所說的話、現在主賜你兆頭。
8
主說、 亞哈斯 所作的日晷、我必使其上前進的日影往後退十度。於是前進的日影果然往後退了十度。○
9
猶大 王 希西家 患病痊愈之後作詩、詩記在下面。
10
我曾說、我正指望平安時、乃將不免進入陰府門、不得享我的餘年。
11
我說、我不得再瞻望耶和華、不得再瞻望耶和華在生命地、我不得再見人、不得再見世上居民。
12
我帳幕將撤與我別離、猶如牧人撤幕一般、我命將盡、猶如織布已畢、翦斷機頭、將布捲起、你要在旦夕間使我滅亡。
13
我終夜盼望直到天明、那知竟如獅子損傷我百體、你要在旦夕間使我滅亡。
14
我哀鳴如燕子、又如天鵝、我發悲聲如鴿、我眼疲乏、向上仰觀、說、主阿、我甚艱苦、求主救援。
15
主向我應許、並且成就、我用何言報答大恩、我只好在我存活的日子、因免艱難常赴主殿。
16
上主阿、人得存活惟倚靠此、我生命尚存、也是因此、惟主醫治我使我存活。
17
我的艱苦變為平安、你愛惜我、救我生命脫離死亡的坑、因為你將我一切罪愆抛在你身後。
18
陰間必不稱謝你、死亡必不讚美你、下入墳墓的不再盼望你的誠實。
19
只有存活的人、存活的人方稱頌你、如我今日稱頌你、為父的必將你的誠實傳與子孫。
20
主救護我、我們要在主殿一生一世、奏樂頌揚。○
21
以賽亞 吩咐說、須取一塊無花果餅來、貼在瘡上、王必痊愈。
22
希西家 問說、我能上主殿有何為兆呢。
