Amely esztendőben Asdódba érkezett a Tartán, mikor Szargon, Asszíria királya küldte őt; és ostromolta Asdódot és bevette azt:

abban az időben szólott az Úr Jesaja által, az Ámóc fia által, mondván: Eredj és oldozd le a csuhát derekadról, és sarudat húzd le lábadról. És úgy tett: meztelen és mezítláb járt.

Akkor azt mondta az Úr: Amiképpen járt szolgám, Jesaja, meztelen és mezítláb három esztendeig jelül és kijelentésül Egyiptom és Szerecsenország ellen:

úgy hajtja el Asszíria királya az egyiptomi hadifoglyokat és szerecsenországi rabokat; ifjakat és véneket meztelen és mezítláb, és megmeztelenített alfellel, Egyiptom csúfjára.

És megijednek és megszégyenülnek reményük, Szerecsenország és dicsekvésük, Egyiptom miatt.
6
És azt mondja majd e partvidék lakossága azon a napon: íme így járt a mi reményünk, ahova futottunk segítségért; hogy megszabaduljunk Asszíria királya elől, hát hogy menekülünk mi meg?!
