Oktatás. Ászáftól. Miért vetettél el, oh Isten, végképpen; füstölög haragod legelőd nyája ellen?

Emlékezzél meg közönségedről, melyet hajdan szereztél, (megváltottál örökös néptörzsedül); Erről a Cion hegyről, melyen lakást vettél.
3
Oh, emeld fel lépteidet az örök romokra: mindarra, ami gonoszt az ellenség a szent helyen elkövetett.
4
Ordítottak ellenségeid gyülekezeti helyed közepette; a maguk jelvényeit tették ki jelvényekül.
5
Úgy jelenik meg, mint aki felemelve visz be fejszéket a fa sűrűségébe:

és most véseteit egyetemben fejszével és kalapácsokkal kalapálják.
7
Tűzbe borították szentélyedet; a földig megfertőztették neved hajlékát.
8
Azt mondják magukban: Nyomjuk el őket egyszerre; felégették Istennek minden gyülekezeti helyét az országban.
9
A mi jelvényeinket nem látjuk, nincs még próféta; és nincs velünk, aki tudná, meddig még?
10
Meddig gyalázhat a szorongató, oh Isten; örökké szidhatja nevedet az ellenség?
11
Miért vonod vissza kezedet, jobbodat? Kebled bensőjéből vess véget!
12
Hiszen Isten az én királyom ősidő óta; aki szabadításokat művel a föld közepette.
13
Te törted meg erőddel a tengert; törted össze a szörnyek fejeit a vizek felett:
14
te zúztad szét a tengeri kígyó fejeit; adtad azt ételül egy népnek, a pusztalakóknak.
15
Te fakasztottál forrást és patakot; te szárítottál ki állandó folyamokat.
16
Tiéd a nappal, az éj is a tiéd; te állítottál fel holdat és napot.
17
Te állítottad fel a földnek minden határát; nyár és tél? Te alapítottad azt.
18
Emlékezzél erre: ellenség gyalázta az Urat; és bolond nép szidta nevedet.
19
Ne add e csapatnak gerlicédnek lelkét; nyomorultjaid csapatát ne felejtsd el végképp.
20
(Tekints a szövetségre; mert tele vannak a föld sötét zugai erőszak-tanyákkal:)
21
a letört ne térjen vissza megszégyenülten; a nyomorult és szegény dicsérje nevedet.
22
Kelj fel oh Isten, harcold ki peredet; emlékezzél a gyalázatra, mely a bolondtól jön rád egész nap.
23
Ne felejtsd ellenségeid hangját; a rád támadók zajongását, mely szüntelen felszáll
