Noè aveva tre figli: Sem, Cam e Iafet. Dopo il diluvio nacquero loro figli. Questa è la lista.

I figli di Iafet: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Iavan, Tubai, Mesech e Tiras.

I figli di Gomer: Aschenaz, Rifat e Togarma.

I figli di Iavan: Elisa, Tarsis, gli abitanti delle isole di Cipro e di Rodi.

Da Iavan discendono gli abitanti delle isole: essi divennero popoli, ognuno dei quali ha un proprio territorio che corrisponde alla sua stirpe, lingua e nazione.

I figli di Cam: Cus, Egitto, Put e Canaan.

I figli di Cus: Seba, Avila, Sabta, Raama e Sabteca. I figli di Raama: Saba e Dedan.

Cus generò Nimrod: questi fu il primo guerriero.

Fu anche un bravissimo cacciatore, e ancora oggi si dice: essere uno straordinario cacciatore, come Nimrod.

Incominciò a regnare sulle città di Babele, Uruch, Accad e Calne, tutte situate nella regione di Sennaar.

Da questa terra si portò in quella di Assur dove costruì le città di Ninive, di Recobot-Ir, di Calach

e, fra Ninive e Calach, la grande città di Resen.

Egitto generò Lud, Anam, Laab, Naftuch,

Patros, Casluch e Caftor dal quale hanno origine i Filistei

Canaan generò Sidone, il primogenito, e Chet.

Inoltre traggono origine da lui: Gebusei, Amorrei, Gergesei,

Evei e i popoli Archita, Sineo,

Arvadita, Semarita e Camatita. In seguito le famiglie dei Cananei si dispersero.

Il territorio dei Cananei si estendeva da Sidone in direzione di Gerar fino a Gaza, poi in direzione di Sodoma, Gomorra, Adma e Zeboim fino a Lesa.

Sono questi i discendenti di Cam, che diventarono popoli, ognuno dei quali ha un proprio territorio che corrisponde alla sua stirpe, lingua e nazione.

Anche Sem, fratello maggiore di Iafet capostipite di tutti i discendenti di Eber, ebbe figli.

I figli di Sem: Elam, Assur, Arpacsad, Lud e Aram.

I figli di Aram: Uz, Ul, Gheter e Mas.

Arpacsad generò Selach e Selach generò Eber.

Eber ebbe due figli: chiamò uno Peleg (Divisione), perché è da quel tempo che gli uomini furono divisi nel mondo, e chiamò l' altro Ioktan.

Ioktan generò Almodad, Selef, Asarmavet, Ierach,

Adoram, Uzai, Dikla,

Obal Abimael, Saba,

Ofir, Avila e Iobab. Tutti questi furono i figli di Ioktan.

Il loro territorio si estendeva da Mesa in direzione di Sefar fino ai monti dell' oriente.

Questi sono discendenti di Sem, che divennero popoli ognuno dei quali ha un proprio territorio che corrisponde alla sua stirpe, lingua e nazione.

Le famiglie qui elencate hanno avuto origine dai figli di Noè e sono ordinate secondo la loro discendenza e le loro nazioni. Da esse, dopo il diluvio, sono sorte le nazioni sparse nel mondo.
