God is vermaard in Juda, zijn naam is groot in Israël.

In Salem staat zijn tent, in Sion staat zijn woning.

Daar brak Hij de brandende pijlen, de schilden, de zwaarden, de strijd.

Schitterend is uw heerlijkheid, majestueuzer dan de bergen vol wilde dieren.

De krijgshelden zijn beroofd, ze slapen hun laatste slaap, niet een van de dapperen hervond nog zijn kracht.

Toen U dreigend verscheen, God van Jakob, bezweken wagens en paarden.

Wie is zo ontzagwekkend als U, wie kan voor U standhouden, wanneer uw toorn is ontbrand?

Vanuit de hemel klonk uw oordeel. De aarde werd stil van ontzag

toen God opstond om recht te spreken en alle verdrukten op aarde te bevrijden.
11
Wie tegen U tekeergingen, zullen U prijzen, wat van hun woede overblijft, houdt U in bedwang.
12
Doe geloften aan je Heer*** God en los ze in. Laten allen die Hem omringen geschenken brengen aan Hem die ontzagwekkend is,
13
die de geest van heersers als druiven afsnijdt en door de koningen van de aarde wordt gevreesd.
